Is anyone aware of a factory sporting weight rifle that has a 1-8 twist barrel. I’m thinking it may just be easier to Rebarrel.

I’m aware the Gen 1 Ruger Precision has a 1-8 but i’m looking for a light weight.

Thoughts?

You're not going to have much luck finding a factory .243 sporting rifle with a 1in8 twist. If you're desire is to shoot the heavy projectiles you're either looking at re-barreling or possibly looking into the new 6mm Creedmoor.

There are a few sporting rifles now being chambered in 6mm Creedmoor which is specifically designed for shooting heavy projectiles and comes standard with the 1in8 twist.

There are a few options such as this:

My IBI prefit spiral fluted 243 is 1/8....and is a freakin lazerbeam.....screwed that onto an old action and into a takeoff HS stock...better than any factory rifle for the money

does one need faster than 1;10 for normal hunting bullets for the 243?

In factory ammo probably the most normal hunting bullet is 100 grain and you don't need more than a 10 twist for that... but it's kind of nice Remington (and others) have come out with a factory 8 twist for those who reload...

Some countries have 100gr minimum and in some places also non lead bullets required. Sales of 243 seems to be way down. They talk about future proofing with 1/8 twist mainly because of copper bullets. 90gr Hornady CX is 1/8 min recommended as well as 103 ELDX for example. I would certainly prefer 1/8 twist in a 243.
