I'm considering buying a Low Wall 1885. Thing is I have a plan to mount an older 25X Lyman All American Benchrest scope on it. I understand low as possible scope mounting is one of the few thorny issues, at least for thumb access to the hammer & objective size to clear the barrel. Problem: My objective is about as big as some 56mm objectives up front. I prefer not to go to high rings and a quick mountable cheekpiece.

Any input?

Cheers

Well, the Zeiss 44mm measures 2" dia OD on the objective and 1.75 on the eyepiece. With Med rings I have .370 " clearance on the front, and I have to put my thumb in from the side.
