Is the recent 20 gauge not supposed to have an ejector spring like the 12?

Im looking at a factory 870 Express 20 gauge (newer small-frame), and there is no ejector spring. the rivets are there, everything looks untampered with and there is no part of a broken spring or anything indicating anything was ever there... theres just no ejector spring at all. wtf?

does the ejector have tension on it or is it just flopping there ? I cannot see a 20 guage 870 being any different then a 12 guage one since both shells are rimmed, and remington builds their 20's on a 12 guage frame anyway.

well, in parts lists i see the ejector spring listed as: "Remington Ejector Spring 870 Super Magnum, Magnum 12-16-20 Gauge"

but keep in mind that up until about a few decades ago, all 870s were built on the same 12 gauge receiver. the more recent 20 gauge 870s have a modified smaller frame, and im wondering if they did away with the ejector spring.
the ejector is tiiiiight -- there is nothing to indicate that a spring was ever there - absolutely no play/gap in the rivets, no scuffs, no broken bit of spring, no mark on the rivets. the two rivets look like theyre just holding the ejector.

so the way i see it the only two possibilities are that its either some strange manufacturing defect, or they dont come with one and just rely on the blade to eject.

figures i dont have any 20ga. ammo right now to test it with, but the small fixed blade on the ejector should eject them properly. still i need to know if the spring needs to be there or not on a factory gun.

here is a pic of two 12 gauge ejector springs for comparison:

well, just called Remington parts and apparently none of the 20 gauges have ejector springs, just the ejector. so theres the answer for anyone that looks into teir new 20 gauge receiver and freaks out because they dont see an ejector spring. im so used to seeing them on my 12 gauges.

still wouldnt mind if someone could confirm please, the guy on the phone sounded a bit spaced out.

My newish 870 20 gauge does not have an ejector spring. Functions flawlessly. The only issue was when a newb short stroked it. He did the same to my Ithaca. BTW it is on a smaller frame than a 12g.
