Sounds like a FCS/EO tech problem![]()
I am guessing they are the overmolded plastic knobs with a brass insert.
Cut the plastic part of the "wing nut" off with a utility knife. You can then back off the inserts with a pair of pliers or vicegrips.
File the ends of the bolts to remove the peening and replace the plastic junk with decent nylock nuts (over a washer) torqued to 25 inch pounds.
Cheap easy fix that leaves you in a better place than a the factory pushed out.
Knobs on mine appear to be solid anodized aluminum. If not readily available from one of our site sponsors such as Nordic Marksman I would go to a fastener supplier and purchase a helicoil kit that matches the screw thread size and helicoil it back to size as there's lots of meat in the knob---Dieseldog!Thanks for this
