I'm looking at another rifle in 6.5x55 and have pretty much settled on a cz550fs because I love the open sights and how quick it shoulders.

I have heard the barrel is free floated in a bunch of things I have read on the web but the model I tried today is far from free floated.

How have yours been? Are they actually free floated? Have you had to alter the stock at all? Has there been any movement in the wood?

Also if any of you are using quick detach rings which kind are you using?

Thanks in advance.

Why does it matter if the barrel is free-floated? The CZ550 is a nice rifle.

I had another fullstock that the point of impact changed dramatically everytime the weather changed and the wood was moving.

I don't really care if it is or not I'm just trying to know what to expect since I've read differing opinions.

I'm still going to grab it either way.

My CZ550 FS is in 9.3X62 and I couldn't be happier with it.
After quite a bit of load testing and a great deal of suggestions from a bunch of awesome CGNers it now prints consistent half inch groups, not too shabby for a full-stock rifle.
As for scope mounts mine wears Warne QR rings ..

What height rings do you use and what is the objective, I'm probably going to put a 2-7x32 on mine but it seems like it may be a tight fit with lower rings and the rear sight

My rings are medium height, the scope is a 1.5 X 5 Leupold with a straight tube. I would like a lower ring, but I'm not certain if the bolt handle would still clear the rear of the scope when opened..... as it is I can live with it.
Anytime my 66 yr. old eyes can break the inch @ 100 yds. with a 5X scope I more than happy... ;)

here you go moose masher, its on the bottom with the 9.3x62 medium above it for comparison purposes.
