Question for Lee Classic Cast Turret Press owners ?

When ordering a new Lee Classic Cast Turret Press (the more expensive turret press), Does it come with 1 Turret ? and the top bracket for the autoprime system ?

I have read that I need to order a extra turret for each caliber I plan on reloading, but when I look at the parts list, it shows that the classic cast turret press comes with 1 turret already. I plan on reloading for 9mm and a little 30/06 for now, so I will need a total of 2 turrets. I suppose I just need to order 1 extra turret, because its saying that it already comes with 1 of them. I just wanted someone to varify that to me. In the parts description, it also says that it includes the top bracket for the primer feed ?

I just wanted to double check on those 2 things, so I don't order a extra turret and the top bracket for the primer feed if it already comes with them. I already plan on ordering 1 extra turret, because I need 2 in total, but I did'nt know for sure if needed to order 2 or just 1, because it comes with 1 already ?

I'm finally ording my complete kit this week, after I just sold a extra gun to be able to fund my new reloading hobby project, so I want to make sure I have every little detail covered in my ordering process.
 
Yes and no. When you order your stuff make sure you order as many quick change bushings as you have dies. These allow you to rapidly switch die sin and out without having to reset they're "zero" each time. Buying extra turrets allows you preload all your same caliber dies into a single turret, meaning you onlt have to switch turrets to change calibers.

Also, where are you getting your stuff from? There is an excellent US comapny (factorysales.com) that ships world wide, and offer massive savings. I bought my whole setup; Lee 50th anniversary, .308 deluxe , extra bushings and all the various fixings for about $30 less than i could here in Canada, including shipping, duties, tax, etc. definitely worth checking out.

If you plan on just the 2 calibres then you only need to order 1 extra change bushing. The press will come with one already.

Change bushings and turrets are very different. The die threads into the change bushing, and the change bushing threads into the turret or directly into the press (if using a single stage press). You need one change bushing for each die, and one turret for each caliber* that you wish to reload for.

*Unless you have a rifle setup that employs all five dies. Though I cannot see any use for all five, being the Collet, Crimp, full-length resize, seater and decapper. Three of which are redundant. If using collet or full length resize, the decapper and full length/collet are pointless, seeing as collet and FLR are mutually exclusive operations and all three have decapper pins.
 
Yes it comes with the new type of bracket for the priming system. It just needs installing. It also comes with one turret. Extra turrets are only $10 each, so if you plan on die sets for other calibers, stock up accordingly. I even have one for each of my cast bullet resizing dies I own, leaving the other 3 holes empty. That's how lazy I am.

It also comes with an extra little plastic square thingy. When you order, ensure you buy extras because they can screw up fairly easily if you're careless (and I can be careless). They're officially called "Lee Turret Press Replacement Square Ratchet" and cost 50 cents each. $3 worth should be a lifetime supply, unless you're even more careless than myself.

Other things you might consider is an extra decapping pin, just so you have one on hand if your original breaks. Also, don't forget to buy a "Riser" if you use the Lee auto Disk Measure along with your primer thingy.
 
Okay guys thanks for the information. I am ordering from factory sales, because there prices are the best by far.

I am not sure about a tumbler because Lee does'nt make them, so I have been looking at a few other local stores to get one.
 
I got mine from factory sales in the US as well. I do not remember about the turret though. I bought like 5 of them with the press since I'm using it as my main press and load multiple calibers.

I will order 4 extra square ratchet things. Is the decapping primer pin a part that comes with the Dies or a part that comes with the actual Classic Turret press ? I'm having trouble finding the exact part you are talking about when you say the depriming pin ?

It comes with the die sets (installed in your carbide resizing die). Having one on hand is a good idea, because I broke one once (being careless again) and couldn't reload for nearly 2 weeks while waiting for a silly $1.99 replacement.
 
I just set up a Lee Classic Turret for .38/.357, here is what I ordered;

Classic Turret Press (1 turret, Safety prime bracket, lever prime system incl)
Lee Auto disk riser (to raise powder dispenser)
Lee Auto disk pro
Lee Safety Prime large and small primer
Lee .38 Spl 3 die set
Lee .38 Spl taper crimp die

I also ordered 1 spare 4 hole turret so I can leave my .38 set up but do say .308 or something if I decide to.
 
Well, I ordered my complete set up for reloading. I ordered the Lee Classic Turret Press (cast model) and everything I needed to reload 9mm and 30/06. I ordered a extra turret, since it already comes with one, so I will have a total of two turrets. I did'nt order any quick change bushings, because I was under the impression that they are for the other presses, and not the turret presses, since all of my dies will remain in each turret for whatever caliber that I'm reloading for. I did'nt see the point of buying quick change bushings since I don't plan on taking the dies out the turrets. Anyways, I ended up needing something 23 different items in total, and it should arrive within 2 weeks. I did'nt get a chance to talk to anyone because I think they were gone for the day at factory sales when I tried to call. Anyways, I will call there on Monday and talk to them and if it turns out that I really should of ordered some of these quick change bushings, then I will include them in my order, but I am pretty sure that I just need extra turrets since the dies will remain in them at all times. Now, I'm trying to figure out what sort of primers, powder, and bullets I need, so that I can start reloading right away.
 
How was the duty on it or do you know yet ?....I looked and shipping for the stuff I wanted was around $62 to ont and it was comparible to your order in size

I have been talking to a couple of people who recently ordered from them and they did'nt have to pay anything extra. I was told that there is'nt any duty on USA built tools, but there is a chance that Canada customs could inspect the items at the border and you could be hit with 13%HST + $5 fee at the very worst case senario, so when you go to pick up or item or have it delivered you may need to keep some cash on hand. I heard that its highly unlikely though for this to happen though, but you never know so I am going to keep a extra bit of cash on hand just incase I end up with a unlucky surprise.

In the worst case senario, even if I get hit with the HST when they deliver the stuff, I am still saving about $200 compared to what it would of cost me if I bought the stuff from a local dealer. Factory sales is ridiculously cheap. I bought about $350 worth of stuff, and I figured it would of set me back almost $600 if I bought from a CGN dealer or a local gun shop, so at that much of a savings, its worth to shop at factory sales. I just double checked my invoice that I printed off when I paid with (FRAUD ALERT) when I ordered, and I ordered a total of 26 items. I got a bit carried away, but when you see things for $10, and they cost between $15-$25 locally, I just could'nt help myself and I ended up ordering every thing that I needed, so I have a few different options when it comes to reloading pistol and rifle.

I will post my results when the package is delivered and I will list the complete order that I had sent to me, with the complete cost.
