Question for Open Shooters on .38 Super Brass

Is there a difference between .38 Super and .38 Super +P brass. I have some of both mixed in. Can I use the same amount of powder in both cases when trying to make 160 PF for major in IPSC? Or, should I just put the regular .38 super brass aside?

Both are essentially the same. The only brass you need to avoid is .38 ACP which is dimentionally identical but thinner in the web.

.38 super comp is essentially the same, except it has the 9mm profile and dimentioned rim and extractor groove.

So if I run it in my .38 super it'll be a question of reliability rather than safety?

Supercomp brass was designed to eliminate the semi-rim and potential source of feeding problems in double stack mags like the STI/SVI.

In a single stack mag, I wouldn't worry about it.

If you mean .38 super and .38 super+p, yes.
If you mean the above and supercomp, no.

Supercomp brass has a rim that's .010 less in diameter, so an extractor tuned for one will not work reliably with the other.

That is what I meant yes. Thanks. I'll put the .38 Super Comp stuff aside until I find someone who runs it.
