My wife uses an M&P45 2.0 for IDPA and she absolutely loves it, it has been super dependable, accurate and she loves the grip on it. I've shot it a bunch of times and it really is a nice gun to shoot, very controllable and easy to get back on target quickly. Neither her nor I like the M&P hinged trigger, it's a bit too curved for my liking, I prefer a flatter faced trigger, but she threw an Apex in hers and it is sweet! I've actually been considering getting one myself, I don't currently own a 45 and I'm pretty impressed with the M&P, well worth the money :)
Oh yeah, also if you get one, they can be EXTREMELY hard to get the 10th round in the mags, it's quite easy to clip one curve off the mag spring and they will take the 10th round no problem

I've only had mine out twice, maybe 300 rounds through it. So far I like it, smaller grip than my CZ97B. Not overly worried about the $$ of ammo since I set my self up to load 45acp but that is a consideration if your buying factory ammo.

I liked my M&P 9mm. When an opportunity came along for the M&P in 45, I said yes.
My M&P 45 came with no backstraps, but my extra 9mm ones interchanged easily.

Accuracy is good, feeds my 200 grain cast & my 190 grain Top Hat bullets easily. Mild recoil, decent sights, & gun handling characteristics put many other 45 autos to shame. Easy to swallow price too. I actually like it better than my G21. You will not be disappointed.

I have shot M&P 9s for years. Got to try a M&P .45. It shot well, nice gun. 10 shot, just like the 9s. But the 9s are easier to shoot. Unless there was a specific reason to justify .45, I would stay with 9mm. If you think you need a .45, go for it.
