did Remington manufacture a 700 ADL in the 1960's in a carbine model (or 20" barrel)? I am looking at one in 6mm and as long as I can be reassured the 20" pipe is original I will buy it, just need to know for sure. I cant find any info on the net

Dan, I don't believe there are any M700 Remingtons chambered in 244.
The 722 was so chambered, and most of those had the 1-12" twist.
When Remington brought out the 700 in 1962, they chambered them in 6mm, and went to the 1-9¼" twist.
Regards, Dave.

well I went ahead and bought it. I was assured that its all original including the 20" barrel . it is marked 6mm rem so I assume it has the 1-9 twist to stabilize the heavier bullets. I am looking at the ballistics for 100gr np's at around 3100fps. I don't think the deer are going to like this. thanks for the info
