Any of you have a Sig that came in a black plastic box? Up until now, I've only seen blue (new) and red (CPO) boxes. However, I recently bought a used P226 that came with a black Sigarms box. Any idea what the black box is supposed to signify?

Someone on sigforum suggested that a black box means that the pistol originated as an LEO gun, but that find it difficult to believe as it is (1) a two-tone model and (2) to the best of my knowledge, no Canadian police agency has ever unloaded their Sigs to the general public.

The black boxes used to mean that they were LEO models and had a contrasting white "sticker" which read "Law Enforcement". You see them for sale from time to time on E-Bay. Either Sig had a bunch of these boxes left over and were using them up or they replaced the slide to make a two tone. It's not uncommon for them to use the best parts from several pistols to make one CPO pistol.

My P220 came new in a black plastic box about 5 years ago. It is German, rather than American assembled - Dunno if that makes a difference?
