Question for the 7.62x54 reloaders

Going by reloading manuals 110gr up to 220gr. I've done 150, 180 and 200gr. Not sure on fps, but the books will say. Check hodgdons website for more info.

The only info I can find on the 7N1 is from 2003 so not really WW2 era.
151.2 grain bullet with a muzzle velocity of 2700fps.
As hexbasher said it was specifically developed for the SVD and its variants.

I did some quick Google searches and can't find anything on ammo types from WW2 when the Mosin sniper rifle would have been at its peak.

For M91 I load 100,155,180 and 200 Gr casts.Lee 155 shoots the best of them at a 100yrs but 100Gr is awesome at 50yrds.

I use Alliant Red dot/Promo.

I dont think they thought to manufacture ammo specifically for snipers 70+ years ago... 7n1 was designed in 60s for the SVD.

The standard surplus is a 147 grain spitzer, although the original load was 210 grain round nose (early 1900s, didn't keep this load for all that long)

All info stolen from Wikipedia.

I've loaded 150 and 180 grain. My best results are 150s with a .312 soft point bullet.

And yet, most (all I know of?) hunting rounds are 180-205 grain soft point bullets, only surplus or FMJ is that light. But I guess hunting and accuracy are not always the exact same goal...

I found some Norma 130gr .311's at a gunshow...........but I think I'm feeding them to my SKS for deer? They would be moving from a 91/30 though...........Harold

Memoirs of Russian snipers mention manual sorting of ammo from crates -that's it.One German book describes the same thing on their side as well.

Fliers did the same thing in WW1 to prevent jams of MGs.
