Way back: when Kim who? decided that C-68 was a good idea and everybody was running scared of AR's. I was much younger and AR's were more expensive I figured I would never be able to afford one. Along came
C-68 and I was at a gun show about a week before the legislation was comeing in and as I said everyone was running scared. Well I picked up a Colt AR15 A2 Hbar Sporter it says, as well as a Colt Sporter Light Weight in 9mm, form a guy at one table and the guy at the next table who says he had run afoul with the law, had an earlier colt AR upper with the triangular hand guards
and no foreward assist, and a box of parts, basically a complete rifle except the serial number lower. The only thing I can see on the upper is something about a chrome bore at the muzzle. Life got busy and I spend most of my shooting time in the field, I go to the range to test loads and sight in but that is about it. So life got busy the guns were restricted and they got stuck in the locker and only came out to be fondled and cleaned from time to time.

So last year after finally getting my att's in order again, me and the boy were off to the range with the 221 fireball we put together for him. He wanted to take the AR's along, being 12 and into second world war and vietnam video games.

I figure sure what the heck I hadn't even shot them and figured they should at least be sighted in. Well the kid had a ball and I have to admit i enjoyed them as well. So after that long winded explination here is the question.

I have the Colt upper and parts already should I buy a Dlask stripped lower to put it on or just get a complete Norc lower and be done with it.

Will the colt trigger parts fit with the dlask lower ( mainly because it's Canadian made that I suggest this lower.)

Will that older colt upper fit on a Norc lower?

Is the upper worth selling and putting the money towards a Norc M4gery for the kid. Not really going to tell him it's for him he is kinda gun spoiled as it is.
But every time we go to the toy room he gravitates to the AR's.

Sell them all and buy a couple of non restricteds we can shoot gophers with, he seems to like the XCR's as they look close to AR's?

Colt lowers use a different size pins for the trigger (larger) than all the rest. Also, the two bolts that mate the upper with the lower are different size than all the rest. This does not mean that you cannot mate a Dlask or Norinco lower with your Colt upper, you will need two bolts that are made to allow for the difference in diameters. However, your Colt trigger parts will not fit any other lower other than Colt, to the best of my knowledge. Since you have all the trigger and other internals, maybe Dlask can modify a lower to fit the larger pins, it should be a trivial operation for him. In my opinion, a Colt upper, and the early version you have, is worth keeping.

If you are not sure of sizes, send all your parts to Dlask and ask him to modify a lower to hold your parts. Should not be an issue.
