hi all, is there a standard formula to follow to figure out how much lead i need to yeild X # of bullets? for ex at 7000gr/lb of lead, 2lbs should get me 60 pcs of 230gr 45? am i close? way off? lol i do not cast myself so i assume theres factors i'm not aware of that would effect # of projectile yeild.... also of there anyone in Niagara area that does cast .45's, pm i may have a deal for you

looks like yomamma is gonna get another deal lol.

as to the OP that's basically what it boils down to yes, 7000gr divide by the bullet weight and you should get within a couple bullets (some loss from spills, etc) but keep in mind the bullet weight from the mold makers will depend on what alloy they use. i believe most use wheel weight for the designs, so if you used all linotype it would be off by a bit. i typically have my 20lb pot full then count how many times it gets to half (i fill it back up after that for more lead pressure into the mold) and get a rough estimate from there.
