So, I have a cache of what appear to me to be old Dominion original 7mm Mauser cartridges.
I have some in their original cardboard boxes, and over 400 in ammo boxes.
To.me, they all look the same. Each has some red primer sealant with a brass coloured primer, same projectile in each.
Now, I am going to be selling them, and I want to be sure they aren't reloads, as this will drastically affect pricing.
Anyone recall or have an old box of this Era Dominion that they could have a look at for me?
They do appear to have a cannelure and are crimped.
Is the answer to pull a bullet and see if it matches the box label of 139 gr?

I'm starting to become more convinced that they are factory rounds, looked at some boxed 30-30, .303 and 8mm Mauser and they all have the same red primer sealant on them.
Will pull a bullet just to be safe.

Ok, so I pulled one and on my charge master it's reading 138.6 gr. Think that's close enough to 139 for me.

Here's a shot of the bullet and powder:

Good on you for keeping busy.
I'd say that is factory and the one box appears to be collector grade too?

Honestly, I'd rather keep it all, but I'd much rather a new gun, and I have my eye one at least one, and will look for my next hunting rifle in .270, as I have at least that much ammo in .270.

I do have the exact RCBS press like the one showed in the picture but I lost the handle of it. Would you sell that handle? Ha haaaa, just kiddin. I couldn't help myself when I've seen the picture. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Call up RCBS. They'll tell you to take off the large nut on the top of the press to find date of manufacture and send you a new one for free.

I have identical ammo in identical boxes. Factory ammo for sure. Velocity quoted on the box is 2900 fps, but I haven't run it over a chronograph. They knew how to load 7x57 back then. New 7mm from American factories run about 2600.

Looks like factory to me. I have many boxes of different cal. of this type of ammo.
I still hunt with it ,,,,,,,,,,, great stuff ,,,,,,,,,, all dead when shot is true . ,,,,,,,,,,,, Frank

That older CIL ammo, headstamped "Dominion" was very good quality ammo.

The 160 grain version of that same ammo was deadly on anything I ever shot it at.
I still have 3 or 4 boxes of the brass. Dave.

While we're at it, I may as well put you guys to work while I have your attention. Can't tell you how much I appreciate the input.
I have quite a few boxes of projectiles, many of them in these nondescript red boxes. One or two of these have the word "Schweden" on them, but the boxes are all of similar construction.
Anyone see these before? My Dad's friend who bought them traveled to Europe frequently enough, good chance he got them there would be my best guess.

A few pictures.

The 8mm in the red box (3rd pic from the top) might be Norma. I suspect the box in the last 3 pics to be Norma as well. The odd looking bullet with the hollow base, for some reason the name Hirtenberger keeps popping into my head. Could be totally wrong though.
