Can you tell me what is the prohib part of the L1A1 is it the lower with the serial number of the upper with the serial number??

I know the sten was a bit odd with this type of thing, whats the same with the FAL.

Thanks in advance

I trouight it was just general princpal that it went prohid, and the fact that it could be made to go full auto with a match head

match head, tin foil, piece of cardboard out of the c-rat pack, you name it- almost anything would do- all three of the bigger players of that era were easy to convert to f/a fire- but that's not the reason the fn went restricted back in 75- the simple fact was that the government didn't want civilians posessing the same rifle as the cf-

Actually, the FNFAL wasn't prohibited until post polytechnic, IIRC... I NEARLY bought an Indian one in about 1996, but didn't want to pay the $400 for it.

**Sigh**

there- fixed it- i hsould have said restricted. not prohibited- i can remember a couple of reserve warrants "borrowing " a couple of c1s to go hunting- or so they said- one was brought up on a charge, and it just "went away" if you get my meaning( wink)- it was well known our oic was a you-know what, and was always looking for charges- but there was that opportunity somebody left a couple of smgs sitting just inside the door of the orderly room one day

my dad always told me about that but i always figured he was full of it haha

The best conversion for CF C1A1's was a small trigger plunger, and the C2 selector, in fact a lot of C1A1's had short trigger plungers already. That way it was factory select fire.

But to the OP -- the upper, both in Canada and down here.

We had the C1A1D. These were selective fire C1's for Naval use on Her Majesty's Canadian Ships. The mod included changing out the trigger plunger and replacing the C1 change lever with a C2 change lever, as Kevin has mentioned. I don't know if the rifles were marked as such but they did have a different NSN. A ##### to shoot on full auto, even 2 or 4 shot bursts can not be held on target, same as the M-14 from the same era.

This is depressing me again. So true about treating us like criminals in our own country. Gun laws are the opposite of innocent until proven guilty - thus the registry violates our constitution and charter of rights and freedoms.
