Im in the process of cleaning my Norc M-305 and gettin' it ready for the deer season. Ive always used white grease on the major moving parts (bolt, bolt roller, op-rod assembly etc).

Here's my question. Is there a better way to lubricate during the cold weather here in Ontario. I find white grease tends to get thicker and the action stiffens up when the temperature drops below zero, not to mention that all the dirt, bark, twiggs and leaves in the forest gets stuck in it.

Im debating the purchase of Remington's teflon lubricant, im unsure if it will do the job right. What else is out there and what are your thoughts?

Thanks guys, i appreciate it greatly!!

Use a better grease. Something designed for guns, like Militec-1.

You SHOULD use grease though, as a 'teflon lubricant' won't perform nearly as well.

X2, the action is designed to work with grease as the contact pressures are quite high. Find a good grease thats rated for low temperatures. Look in the yellow pages to find an oil/grease/lubrication supplier and call them. Any good grease will work. The Militec-1 is great if you can find it......

miltec 1 isn't really a grease, it's a "conditioning agent" read the instructions- you put it on, then fire the gun/weapon.etc- it then bonds to the metal- or so they say- i'm still on my first wee pottie and i've got 4 of the things to feed-too bad you still have to get it thru the states

One Shot Tactical (sponser) apparently stocks the stuff... so says Darren (Farmboy) from another post.

Oh, and regardless of what they call it, the Militec-1 grease IS grease. Just because I call my m14 my super-fantastic-whiz-bang-stick to impress the ladies, doesn't mean it's not a firearm... ;)

I get excellent cold weather performance from plain old Canadian Tire High Performance Synthetic Grease...it might be a bit more expensive than the regular stuff but 10$ gets you a tube that lasts forever.

Good luck!

I beg you to differ.
They have two proucts largely marketed in LE & military communities.
One is like you said the oil - or whatever conditioning agent. Good for all, but the other is a nice good grease.

if you want to convince yourself if they are ood or not, write them on internet and they will send you a free sample of each.
After you use them you will surely buy some. After hunting season isn't much to do but to buy stuff.
