Let's say 180 grain bullets in an 06, same load, primers etc......how much difference in trajectory at 300 yards between a 20 inch tube and a 24?.
I know the velocity loss will be around 25 to 50 fps with the shorter tube.

according to the ballistics calculator i punched it into, if the difference in velocity is 50 fps:

with a spitzer, the slower of the two would drop 1.01 inches more at 300 yards.

with a boattail, the difference is 0.98 inches.

might as well call it an inch. not enough to worry about IMO.

Velocity loss:confused: Do you mean per inch or overall.Charlie Sisk,at 24hr,who has tested the loss by chopping off barrels suggests about 15-20f/s per inch.Too bad the post has gone stale otherwise I would have linked it.
