Question for Tikka haters and lovers

Anyone who honestly thinks that Canadian Rangers Rifle contract provides our soldiers with best available or amazingly fit to the purpose rifle design is ... I won't say delusional, but rather... "easily impressed" lets say.

Moreover if anyone thinks that WE as country or our government and army more specifically are getting a fair deal on that, let me remind you that a $32.8 contract for 6,820 rifles is equal to $4,809 per rifle. Which is a fcking Tikka CTR with laminate stock and irons. $1400 retail in fine stores everywhere around you.

While all these rifles are yet to be manufactured and issued, not to mention have no real service record to speak of, I find an argument for Tikka as being "military grade" such that it is not "overpriced" at $1k or even $600, to be highly ironic in the light of $4.8K price tag we will pay out of our taxes.

That's what I thought

I have 2 tikkas in 30-06, battue and a hunter model with a scope. people hate on every brand on the interweb its hard to get honest opinions or reviews. good trigger, light weight, and accurate is what i want in a "hunting" rifle. Im happy with mine especially the battue model they deliver all 3 (lightweight can be a negative to some but when your out in the bush all day and your only taking one shot ill take the lightweight). The t3 lite is a hunting rifle its not a safe queen or a benchrest rifle or will win beauty pageants there are better options out there if thats what you want. Ill agree with most people that prices have gone up I paid $700 for mine a few years ago now there $1000 for the same rifle but then again everything is going up. Oh ya the barrel is light and heats up fast. But for $600 you can bring home the meat, use it to paddle your boat home and drive nails with it at camp :)

Those fine men are the country's eyes and ears of the north, at the ready for missions in isolated areas that can't be covered by the rest of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Lol. Quoted directly from the CAF websites first paragraph. Google works great for expanding your knowledge.

Anyhow, I know some Rangers as well. Their experience has nothing to do with military training, they get very little, if any. They know the lay of the land and survival through hunting and past learning experiences.

I'm sure they'll be happy to get a new rifle, the Enfield's have been collecting dust in their closets for a number of years.

You don't like Tikkas?!? Golly! I had no idea!

i cleaned and fixed a few and some other had issues ...
a very good rifle at $500 not so at $1000 and of course less at the price we have been charged as taxpayer .... but a military grade rifle do not fool yourself on title ... a well designed plywood stock never make only the military grade the rest can be added on any civilian rifle ...

i spoke with some rangers and some patrols and they are not waiting it but this is the tool that will be given to them ... and some has not been impressed when they tested it ... but again can t wait to see how it goes after one full year of operations.

Tikkas are by no means overpriced for what you get. They are by far the best bang for your buck. They wear incredibly well. They are as accurate as you can get from a manufactured firearm. They gaurentee 3 shot moa at 100 yards and they will do 1/2 from any of the calibres i have shot. They are incredibly light and the action is very smooth. You cannot go wrong with a tikka. The biggest problem people seem to have is that the mag trigger gaurd and bolt shroud is polymer to me this is not a dissadvantage because it cuts down on weight and i have never had a problem with any of these things breaking. For 600 you will definetly not find anything better. Also when it comes to a rifle your optic is just as important and you should expect to pay as much if not more than your rifle. If you do get the tikka i would reccomend spending a little extra on the sako optilock rings they are well worth the money. Hope this helps

Did you hunt with your tikkas? for $600 yes they are not that bad but for 1100 to 1200 they are not worth what they are asking for ... optilock for tikka are one the crappest rings ever seen or made ...
