Looks like I'm going to miss our service rifle zeroing day at the range..gotta work.
My club range is only 100 meters.
My question is..does the 50 yard zeroing for iron sights work with Elcans?
At least good enough to get me in the black?
 
Short answer no.
Are you talking about the open sight thingies on top of the elcan?

Why not just take your elcan and shoot it to 100m?Your 100 and 200m zero is usually the same or only one click difference(if you're using an open gate).Then you can figure out the rest of it from there.

I was referring to the actual iron sights on the rifle.
I'm trying to get away from the "sight it in during the first relay" method of zeroing..:redface:
I was hoping the method of "sighting in your irons at 50 will put you on at 200" would work with the scope.

I can do that too. I was hoping the 50/200 would be exactly the same though..
 
If you're going open gate, then your 100 will be about 2 clicks down from your 200....my normal come-ups:

2-3-3-4

100-0
200 +2
300 +3
400 +3
500 +4

Will vary day to day depending on conditions, but if you've got your windage on, and your elevation dialed for 100, you'll be fine when time comes to shoot a match.

Leave the little silver locking tab up, so that instead of being linked to the pre-calibrated balistic cam, you're able to adjust your elevation by individual clicks.

Are these come-ups for a specific bullet weight or what you use in general.? Thx.

62 Grain IVI C-77 Ball ammo fired using a C-7A1.

Non-military ammo will result in slight differences, so you might end up with 2-3-3-5 or 2-3-4-6 or whatever, but you'll still be on paper.

Yep mine are
100m zero
200m +1 click
300m +3 clicks
400m +5 clicks
500m +5 clicks

at 400m and 500m I take a 6 o'clock hold because I find it hard to see the pick in the target.It's just easier to see the pick under the fig 12 in the white.

Does that screw you up if you're shooting a figure 11 at that distance, or do you just aim for the nuts?;) :p
