I have a buddy who asked me to look around for a 6mm Varmint round thats not your everyday .243 win or 6mm Rem. He doesn't have the internet right now so its up to me. He would like to shoot 75-87gr V-max or similar weighted varmint bullets at 3300-3500 fps I have been doing some reading and it looks like the 6 BRDX would do the trick and be easy to get brass and load. I found a bunch of 6mm wildcats but know little to nothing about them. So anybody that has sugestions or ideas of a 6 that would fit the bill and be somewhat easy to get brass, feel free to post. Also like to keep barrel erosion to normal levels so the 6-06 is out :D

So what about the following :D So many choices. He's not looking to out do a .243 just wants something different than the same old same old .243 he's just that kind of person. Velocity could be the same just aslong as it's not a .243 I know I know :)

right now Iam thinking that the 6mm BRDX will do the trick easy to make brass and should push a 75 V-max 3350-3400 fps. But there are so many out there I know nothing about

According to Hodgdon manual, you can get 3400+ off a 75gr bullet in the 243 win, so I would wonder why you would wish to build a rifle in a wildcat?

If it was mainly a varmint rifle, I would be looking at a .22 cal... especially if he has no intention on hunting large game with it... cheaper to feed, more selection of bullets to load for and easier on the shoulder.... but its his rifle..

Have him look at the .25-06. Good speed numbers in the lighter bullets and heavy enough to hunt ungulates with the heavier ones.

Darned versatile round that.....
