Ok so I have a Tikka t3x. I ordered up Warne QD dovetail rings (1TL), to install directly onto the grooved receiver. These (one of them) come with a recoil pin, which, I assumed, would fit perfectly (snugly) into one of the three holes on the T3X receiver. However, one of the holes is very large (relative to the pin), and the other two are too small. Obviously with the large hole would not hold the pin properly, and negate its effectiveness as a recoil / return to zero pin.

Am I missing something? Intuitively, I can't see a 'return to zero' or appropriate recoil negation if the pin / holes aren't even close to fitting.

Thanks!

Push it forward on the rail so the pin makes contact with the front side of the hole. Recoil wants your scope rings to slide forward, not back and forth so it should be a nonissue. That said I have seen a set of warnes that the pin broke out the back of the ring under recoil - it was on a 9.3x62 T3. It's sad that they discontinued the premier series of ring and only have the sintered maxima line now.
