Question on 9mm loads

I am using a CZ shadow. This is my first time reloading and the recipe I came upon: 124 GR Berry FMJ RN, 1.150 OAL, and 4.0 GR of Titegroup.

Does anyone have experience with this?
 
I'm at work and I can't remember my OAL atm, but I have the same gun use the same powder and bullets in my 9mm loads, and it works great. I believe i started at 3.8gr of Titegroup and worked up just to be on the same side.
 
I can't speak to the 4.0gr of Titegroup, as I use HS-6. But 124gr Berry's @ 1.150" have run well in CZ's.

From my experience, some CZ's chambers are quite "short", causing the projectile to seat into the rifling if your OAL is above 1.15". Make a dummy round, soot up the projectile with a candle flame and chamber it. If the rifling leaves marks in the soot, you'll want to shorten the round until it just clears the rifling.
 
im using pistol power" and 115gr after loading thousand's the loads are creeping smaller for paper punching , dont seem to affect much unless your trying for extreme accuracy , last bunch was 4.2"ish gr ( still at the waste as much ammo as possible stage)
 
Yup.. I use exactly those components.. Here is my recipe (yes I like em hot).

124gr Berry's
4.4gr Titegroup
1.135 OAL

A great medium load is 4.2gr of Titegroup. I found 4.0 was just a little too soft..
 
Warfarin, if Production IPSC is your goal I would suggest either buying yourself a chrono or else getting your IPSC friends or instructor to test your rounds at the range using one. One Shadow isn't exactly like another when it comes to ballistics, so it's always good to check.
 
Just thought I would add, I shoot a Shadow as well.

I know the IPSC guys around here usually shoot 4.3gr to Titegroup behind a 124gr Berry's 1.10 - 1.135 OAL.

I found that Titegroup started to get dirty around 3.8 - 3.9. It was still accurate, worked the gun fine, soft recoil but filthy. I mean 1 - 2 inches at the end of the slide filthy.

I just happen to come back from shooting that recipe in my Steyr. Not, bad but I will go up one autodisk size to make it about 4.3 gr of Titegroup.

I also shot 124 Berry with 5.3 grains of Unique. Fills the case nicely and seemed a bit more accurate.

OAL is the same as yours.
 
Just thought I would update..

I have changed my OAL to 1.125.. I found 1.135 worked %99 of the time but every once in a while I got a round that wouldn't chamber if it was the first round. Changed to 1.125 and the problem went away..

Personally I like to keep the length as long as I can. I know I can go shorter and still be safe, but I just feel better when its a little longer.

I was using excatly this for a while, the 4.2 i mean. My wifes preferred is 4.0 at 1.135OAL. Its an execellent load. I have now switched to 5.0 gr of unique at 1.135OAL, a little hotter and works better in my carbine
