Question on antlerless deer tag choice

I've always used my zone as choice 1 and choice 2 when applying, but I'm curious if that increases my odds, or am I throwing away an option at hunting one zone over.

Good question. I would look at that as a waste of 2nd choice. But Im not sure how it works so you may have done good if they do 2 separate rounds...

Hopefully someone knows for sure, thatd be great if it does actually increase your odds for one unit.

You're wasting your 2nd choice. Plain and simple. A second choice is only filled if every first choice is filled and there are still tags left over. Therefore, theoretically your second choice could only be filled after you were already issued a tag on your first choice - and they're certainly not going to issue a second tag as well.

We never put anything down for 2nd choice as it was always 100% success rate in our area. Until that one year when there was a jump in the number of applicants and my buddy didn't get drawn when the success rate dropped to 96%. Needless to say we always put a 2nd choice in now.

True but a second choice doesn't work well if you have a designated hunting party and a specific WMU. Great though if you can move around by yourself or even with a buddy.

Don’t disagree. Where I deer hunt is under 50% draw and I don’t fill out second choice.
