Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm new to the AR platform.
I'm buying an AR that comes with a collapsable stock. I have an ACE fixed stock that I want to use instead. The ACE stock didn't come with a buffer tube so I know I need to get an A2 tube but what about the buffer and spring?
I assumed I could just pick up a cheap tube and use the old buffer, but I was told by the gun store (I know what gun store info is worth BTW lol) that it wont work.
He took 2 stocks apart to show me the difference but I wonder if it was just the difference between a carbine buffer and rifle buffer. Being that I dont know much at all about gas systems or buffers (only that the wrong weight buffer can cause issues) I was going to use the one that came with my gun.
What do your guys think? Will any carbine buffer system from a collapsable stock work in a normal A2 stock tube?
Thanks!
