Question on exposed barrel thread m14s/m305

Hi guys, just received my first Dominion Arms/Norinco M14s, barrel marked SOCOM 18 and unpacked it this afternoon, it was dripping in so much oil the packing box was oozing oil! Any way when I stared to clean it, I noticed the the barrel tread exposed at the gas block, I thought the gas lock was missing but it's not. Is this considered "normal" Chinese manufacture ? Is this a safety issue when fired? Thx for any advice u can give me.
 
can you post a picture of what you are talking about? I think I know what you are talking about, and if I am correct then NO its not a big deal. Pictures will help clear things up thopugh.

I'm having trouble uploading a pic, but I've been looking at other peoples Norinco m305 and I see the same exposed thread as mine so, I'm gathering it's no big deal. Looking forward to shooting it as soon as I squeeze all the oil out of it! Thx
