I really like the idea of small portable kit, but I'm not sure if I can reload 12ga ammo with it.

I've seen many people using it for other calibres, but not 12ga.

Does anybody have experience with it?

I may be wrong but any shotgun dies I've seen are usually a larger thread than is in the hand press.1 1/4"-12tpi if I recall correctly and are used for brass shells. Standard dies are 7/8"-14tpi.

Shotgun shells can be loaded with a wooden dowel so if you can skip resizing of the shell you don't really need a press for small on the go quantities.

The load all is a great unit. I've had the privilege of using a friends and would recommend it for the price. Check amazon, free shipping. just use the canada site.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I really liked the idea of watching TV and doing some routine reloading work (like depriming, resizing, etc), but I don't have a rifle to reload for, and reloading 9mm ammo doesn't make much sense, so reloading shotgun ammo looked like the best option to me.

I've heard many good things about Lee Load All, but I don't think I'm going to reload enough ammo to justify the purchase.

Yeah, I know that you don't need much equipment to reload shotgun shells, but I have two limitations which make most options unavailable:
- it must be small enough to keep in apartment without a dedicated table for reloading and without even a workbench (yes, it's a shame, I know)
- anything requiring banging with a hammer won't work because I can only begin reloading when kids go to bed

Oh well, too bad. I'll buy a full-sized press when I have enough room and time for it.

How "tool less" do you want it to be?

Here's one that uses nothing you can't buy or build for a couple of bucks from the hardware store. This is part 1 of 3 but there'll be links to each part at the end.

And a video of using the old Lee Loader. I don't think that they make them any more but you might find a kit with a bit of searching.

And just maybe you need to buy a rifle or a handgun that uses ammo that is expensive enough to justify reloading? :d

You can clamp an old MEC unit to a counter and Bobs your uncle. I have no dedicated space for my shotgun reloading. Sometimes I clamp it to the table saw, sometimes to a work bench sometimes to a counter.

Heck of a lot less involved than handgun or rifle.
