question on ordering barrrels

i currently have a savage model 16 chambered in 22-250 that i would like to re-barrel to 260 rem. the barrel nut on my gun is the round type. my question is when i order my new barrel do they come with a barrel nut? i would like to switch to the nut with the grooves for easy removal in the future with a savage barrel nut wrench. ive never ordered a barrel this is my first custom build. i have thought to bring the nut to a machine shop and have them machine down two flat spots on the nut once i have it off so i could use a standard wrench. is this possible or anyone ever done that? thanks for any input. :rockOn:
 
I had a smooth nut on my Savage 111 that I turned into a 6mm Rem AI. Just order up a smooth barrel nut wrench...I got mine from Sharp Shooter Supply in the US. Jerry may be able to get one for you though!! I switched to the grooved nut once I got the smooth nut off as well...new barrels only come as the barrel...no nut, so you'd have to order a grooved nut if you want one, Jerry can help you out there as well!
