question on Savage Actions.

You would think this to be true. Look at Mystic. He has competed for years witha Stevens action. I'm sure it helps but I'm not sure if it can be defined.

yeah, but i consider him to un-natural. The way he just chops up and rebuilds stocks with 2x4s and bondo into pieces of art and then just plain building and shooting a 223 to a mile, wtf. It looks like sorcery to me

Thanks for the kind words... Yes, I have been using and competing with Savage/Stevens repeater actions for years. They work very nicely.

Was tuning for the new Canadian Team load. 250yds with light gusty winds. Shots 1 to 3 started well. Then mirage changed a bit, sent 4 and 5 which almost touched. I think my testing is near complete... confirm at 600 to 800yds and away we go.

Same rifle I took down the Phoenix for the US Nationals but a different Krieger barrel then in the pic. Was running the orig factory bolt cause I want an ejector. Nothing wrong with the factory bolt at all.

All good fun...

I know all that, but it already have a rail and sav1 trigger on it
Long story made short, its now my spare rifle
But I may as well trade the whole thing for a 700 action later on whenever I have spare time to do that build
Tanks for the LinkedIn

Im currently finishing up my 308 build. Started with a Savage 11 in 300 WSM. These come from the factory with large shank barrel threads that can accept barrels from Savages precision model 12 line. I highly recommend these actions to start a build on, they are easy to work with and have a large following in parts and accessories. The first couple posts are correct. Don't wast your time with the axis action. Look into a used model 11 or 10 action to start your build from.

I asked in another thread. But does anyone know if it's possible or where you can get the model 12 .223 bolt body swapped out from a jewelled look, to the standard matte black look? I have a 12FCV with the shiny jewelled look but would much prefer the black look. Any ideas?

Also can someone explain why some savage model 12' FCV's come with bottom bolt release and some with side? Is there a date of manufacturing when they changed systems??

There are still older Savages to be found. I recently picked up a Stevens 200 centerfeed with a Timney trigger on a trade. I spun on a used factory .308 heavy barrel which I picked up on the EE. I must warn you, once you start working on Savage rifles it is very addictive. I have 2 already and dream about adding a third.

Check out Savageshooters.com as well.
