I picked up an SVT at a local gun show recently that is missing the flash suppressor/compensator. The rifle is dated on the reciever 1942, and the muzzle crown looks original. I've never heard of one without the comp, but could it have been deleted as a production shortcut during the war? Any thoughts? Other wise in good shape, missing the front sight hood, bore pretty rough but with rifling left. Cycles well, now to drag her out to the range....

Globe Guns

Hey,
From your description, I believe you have a modified SVT made by Globe Guns.
They shortened standard SVT's and even converted some to .303 (if I'm not mistaken).
Some folks say they are pretty poor in function, but I had one I was very happy with.

that would be the one, the blade is too short, have to bump the sight up to about 250 m to get on center at 100yd. Had her out yesterday again, scrubed a pile more gunk outa the bore, but the light is starting to reflect of it now when you hold it up to inspect. Sorta like a polished gravel road......:(

Still, seems to shoot not to bad, I'm happy for 200. Now if I could just find a proper mag, the one on it only holds 4 rounds...
