Is the Hungarian FEG P9M copy of the P35 HIPOWER a true parts and magazine interchangeable clone or is it a totally different gun with no parts compatibility?

The P9M is almost exact copy of the famous Belgian High Power (also known as HP or GP-35) pistol. In fact, GP-35 and P9M are so similar that many parts are interchangeable between them. These pistols were not used as a service guns in the Hungary, and were intended for export. Some guns were used by the Lithuanian police, and probably these guns were used somewhere else.

Single Action trigger system with external hammer is copied from FN GP-35, the only difference is in the shape and dimensions of the frame mounted safety lever, which is longer than the original GP-35 safety lever. The magazines also are interchangeable between FN GP-35 and FEG P9M.

Junk, there is alot of variations in parts and quality, and are not interchangable with Browning parts for that reason. I've owned 2 of these (brand new) and sold both within a week due to reliability issues.

I have owned FEG's and they are a great gun. Very well made and reliable. Everything I have read about the actual BHP clone say's that the parts are interchangeable.

The barrel lug and recoil spring guide are different and not interchangeable. All other parts are. They are fairly decent guns, I have run them on the range and they can go for 8 months or so, which is not bad. Not as good as some of the big name guns like SIG, Glock and HK, but on par with Beretta.
Note that the gun pictured above is the P9R, the P9M looks just like a BHP with frame mounted safety.

I had one for years. It was quite reliable and the only complaint I had was a bit of a gritty trigger. Other than that, it was fine.
