Every ad, or discusion I see on the guide gun (blue) shows it with a ported barrel. A new one just purchased has a solid barrel, that is, not ported.
Does anyone know why this is so?
Ported barrels used to be available a few years ago, but Marlin quit making them. As for the pictures, likely available from archived copies of the Marlin website or catalog and people who post such pictures are too lazy to check if this is an up to date, accurate depiction of the gun.
i bought the ported one first, when i seen the new version without the porting i quickly bought one, the ported one is a little noisier than the non ported one thats the only difference,,wade
My two-grain of salt... easier to seal up the barrel with tape or anything else to avoid grit and other matter in the barrel. With the ports..anything can go in there...but in reality...Marlin dropped that feature to save a few $$ on the manufacture of the gun: ninja:
