Question on type 81 lmg factory sight

I havent been able to find any info about this my rear sight seems different than other ones i found on the internet and it isnt fully described in the manual

mine is numbered on the right hand side 1,3,4,5,0
on the left hand side is 0____6,7
does anyone know what the 6,7 means? they line up with the 3 and 1 on the right hand side
is there

im not sure if the sight for close range shooting is meant to be the 0 or the 1

also whres the 2?

Ive heard that it is for 600 and 700m using the top gap in the rear sight.... which makes sense to me cus it seems military doctrines often extend the effective ranges of LMGs regardless of the cartridge.

Yes this is correct. On the standard infantry versions, the bar above the rear sight is simply a protective hood. On the LMG, the top bar is also used for aiming at 600 and 700m.
