I have seen some people complain online about poor or downright crooked centre-of-bore alignment of the picatinny rail assembly offered by Tactical Imports when mounted on the side optic rail of the OR (Optic Ready) version. Is this a common problem with these rifles or is it just a few unfortunate souls who ended up with the odd lemons resulting from slight dimensional differences between the Chinese factories making these rifles for Tactical Imports? If it is Tactical Imports that is fitting and installing these side optic rails before selling them to the Canadian market, I would hope that they are checking for proper alignment and adjusting where necessary. Any input on the above would be most appreciated as I am looking into maybe getting one of these rifles.

some had issues because of the side mount and not everybody can adapt on it. easier for left hand shooter if you ask me. never heard someone complaining it was off bore due to the sight optic system.

Search for "bent rifle". There are zillion posts about the issue and TI claiming optical illusion. Technically the issue is with barrel misaligned to receiver. Don't buy " Chinese battle rifle acceptable tolerances". Military manufactured and accepted rifles never had this issue. Latest batch though is much better. Only in last batch I was able to find truly straight folder, but not all of them are. With first batch you could shoot around the corner with folders.

Some of the mounts TI bought from Chinese factories and tried to pass off as Canadian were clearly crooked. The same rails were found on Alibaba for a few dollars each. They tried passing it off as a design feature...

Its a notable factor to consider when designing a receiver mount. Most rifles are "bent" to the right and down to varying degrees between not noticeable to clearly noticeable. LMGs tend to be more notably straight. Having vertical "bends" more then anything. Designers may be tempted to split the known differences and incorporate that into the design of the mount so people with really "bent" guns arnt SOL. But the con to that being that the mount then aesthetically has an unsightly cant that may also be unnecessary for purchasers with relatively straight guns. Most warsaw pact scope systems like POSPs and PSOs can be shimmed to compensate for these misalignments to a certain degree. If u have a Tactical imports mount, measure the thickness of the side rail with calipers at the front and back. If its basically the same... like .005" then its safe to say the misalignments all stem from either the side mount that clamps to the rail, OR more likely the misalignment of ur guns receiver.

Let's have a link to whatever source your using to make the assumption that military manufactrured and accepted rifles never had this issue...I can link you to pictures of misaligned military issued rifles

I have a 2017 folder and yes I understand the misalignment with trunion/barrell. It's insulting to ones intelligence when TI claims optical illusion, however mine isn't noticeable, definitely not shooting around corners..

My OR Folder is noticeably off. I'm going to take some measurements tomorrow to see how far out it is, looks like a few millimeters. I have a feeling my "special edition optics ready" folder is not ready for an optic.

Contact Tactical Imports about this, they apparently have a measuring procedure and will exchange the rifle if the misalignment is more then 4mm.

There are actual Chinese military type 81s that are visibly bent. You can see it at 4:10 of this video:

Even with the bend, accuracy is still very good. In the video they demonstrated sub-moa accuracy with the type 81's iron sights by repeatedly hitting 7.62x39 casings at 100m.

yup, from your pic it looks bent to me too but i didnt get to the 4 min mark cos this is a propaganda vid plus i cant believe they were shooting the casings off the bottle while their left hands are holding the mag.

Its a neat video, but at the same time i call BS on the accuracy demo. There definitely seems to be a lot of delusional pride regarding equipment when it come to the Chinese military. Ive read some pretty outrageous claims online from numerous ex PLA soldiers. Guess they could argue that Western culture has the same characteristic with its military technology as well sometimes...

Definitely a propaganda video, but all manufacturer promo's are propaganda. Marketing one brand of toothpaste over another is propaganda...I choose to believe my 81 can hit those empty casings...haha...joking

but this wasnt a manufacturer promo, it was done by their national TV which appeared to be non bias to some foreigners.

i notice the content was flagged, "CCTV is funded in whole or in part by the Chinese government"

If a government official is speaking, it's propaganda - doesn't matter what department they represent.

Agreed...the CBC is also government funded propaganda...not comparing Canada to China but we also have our own world of propaganda to navigate. Something gun enthusiast know all too well.
