I was just wondering, since this is my first gun...and it is brand new.

Anything I should do before I go and shoot the gun for the first time? Should I give it a thorough cleaning before the first round is chambered?

Or should I only worry about cleaning it very well when I get home?

I know its a bit noobish to ask, but I don't want to damage the gun in any way!

Thanks.

Absolutely clean it first!

dont need to clean , just disassemble , wipe off the excess oil (including in the bore) and inspect then go have fun .

I always clean a new guns bore, You never know what metal particles etc from machining are left in there. If it was already clean, you have only wasted a few mins...

Well...to be honest a) I am not a first timer (my uncle has shotguns and rifles, as do my friends), and b) I should have enough common sense to know that he is probably joking and it would be stupid to do so...

However, if he gives me his address, I will gladly bring my rifle, a few rounds, and let him do it for me. :D
