Question re. Modern Varmint barrel profiles.

I crushed a fair amount of 3 gun this year with my MV and a light barrel profile. Would be my choice again if I was ordering another today...

CFW barrel is a good way to announce you are a "price pimp" at the range.

If you want a light barrel, go with a light profile barrel instead

Your not even using it how its meant to be, its meant as a derogatory term for someone who spends more for something than its worth, which in turn prices things further out of reach for those complaining supposedly.

Now if you had an M10x from NS.... lol

If you ask me its just stupid way of saying some people dont mind over spending and others dont mind complaining about how the price has been "artificially" inflated.

OK.

So the CF wrapped barrel basically gives you the rigidity, and resistance to heat of a heavy barrel but with light weight. Best used for higher volume of fire in target and long range applications where any deviation may affect accuracy.

For 3 Gun, LW is way to go due to rapid fire at close range.

One question...will the LW still give accurate long range shots equal to heavier barrels, especially if you are only making a few shots (under 5) and allowing it to cool???

I can put three shots touching at 100 yards. After that they start opening up.
Quite a bit.
This from my 7mm browning LB
It takes a long while for the barrel to cool.
So if your only shooting five ,LB might be Ok.

If I'm trying to find a powder/bullet combo, that my gun likes, i shoot about 50 shots ,so I need my barrel to cool as fast as possible.
A LB would be useless for this.

Guess a LB would be good for hunting,(it's what I use), 3gun?? ,and if all you want to do is hit a 10 inch plate.
But for target , shooting more than 3 rounds, the cooling process, will eat up to much of your shooting process:)

I've had HB rifles,a few in fact.
They're manageable, but always a bit to front heavy.
That's one of things ,I'm looking to eliminate with the CFW.
Both of best worlds:)

Thanks Brianma65.

At my stage in life time is more valuable than $900.

Sorry,but I made a mistake.
The CFW costs $995 extra + whatever the cost of the SS barrel is.

The barrels go for $800 USD/$1019 Cad.

So if the SS barrel has a value of $300,I guess your paying $1300 for the proof.

In any event,it's worth it, to me.

I've had other highend guns, this equals them, no problem.

I can't wait to get all dolled up,and head to the range.
Range pimping,is not easy:)

The direct cost for a replacement MV proof barrel Rick quoted me 2 years ago was $1600cad.

That's to order a barrel? Wicked.
You could buy a proof barrel from the US $1050 shipped to a US Business that deals with PR.
Another $100 to have it imported and shipped from PR to you.

I think I have that right, maybe off by a few bucks.
