question re. putting M305 castle nut back on

I usually put that "anti-seize" paste fellas put on spark plugs on mine.... The grey, not the copper....

I don't know If it actually does anything or not..... But I "feel" that it does, so I sleep better at night.... (I don't wake up in a cold sweat from a nightmare where I just can't remove the Castle Nut.... and then the pliers break... and then I have to resort to the punch, but it slips and I scratch the barrel and bust a "castle" off the nut.... That's where I usually wake up screaming in mental anguish!)


I also put it on the gas plug, so its easier to remove when I periodically clean my rifle(s)....
 
I usually cut a tiny slot at the top of the set screw just in case I strip it with the allen wrench I can still take it out with a tiny screwdriver from the top.

If I'm gonna guess, I'd say it was with one of those silver coloured princess auto diamond coated needle files. The "flat" triangle one has a real fine thin edge.
 
I'd be concerned that stripping the set screw was more likely with the slot cut in it. The silver anti seize is Permatex nickle anti seize and I use it on the gas plug, castle nut threads. It is for higher temp applications than copper cote. Good stuff.
