Question Re: Tikka T3 Tactical - Was there ever a "matte silver"?

ive got a regular varmint T3 and its not chrome lined.. dunno the year of manufacture..

**** you not though, it shot a 0.4moa group at 100 with zombie max.. beavis was there, he measured it for me.. it wasnt an internet group! :D .. so if you're thinking about one.. i would stop thinking and start buying

So, you're of the opinion that Beretta is confusing Chrome Moly with Chrome Lined?

Chrome moly and chrome lined are two very different things, id be quite surprised if any firearms manufacturer confused them. If tikka made or even offered a chrome lined version I haven't seen one, nor has tikka advertised it.

Beretta only imports them into the states, not manufacture them, though. Maybe their employees are confused. *shrugs*

Sako/Tikka has the equipment to do hard chrome plating (some TRGs come with chrome lined barrels). It's entirely possible that the T3 Tacticals don't have chrome lined barrels and it's just the way they plug the bores that makes it look like they do. Or maybe some T3s got some TRG reject barrels?

Either way, they shoot awesome :)

I had always secretly hoped they would just stick TRG barrels on the Tik Tac... to somewhat justify the price lol. (along with a few other things... like a TRG bolt knob, that would be nice... or bolt... LOL)

If you go to tikkas website and check their specs, they state that the tacticals are made with chrome moly barrels, and that's were i'm getting my info from. Again, no mention of chrome lining whatsoever. If tikka were to put a "TRG reject" barrel on a tactical (and what in terms of a barrel is not acceptable on a sako but is on a tikka?), then it couldn't be chrome lined because it could then be argued that they are selling a completely different gun. There's no way that tikka or beretta wouldn't mention something like that or else you would have a lot of pissed off customers wondering why they have chrome lined barrels on their rifles (not ideal for accuracy). I agree with you on how they shoot though.
