hello, fellow CGN’ers!!! :)

I bought a Trijicon RMR Type 2 for my CZ Shadow 2 which turned out to be non optics-ready.
pls advise best steps:

1. find the right mount and have it installed together with the reddot, even if it will be high.
if yes, pls recommend mount to buy and where, and maybe why you opted for this
2. have a gunsmith redo the slide so that reddot will be more customfitted and be lower
if this choice, pls recommend place to do this. (local in BC, somewhere in Canada or maybe US)

thanks!

A 3rd options is to sell it an buy an optics ready version. Some are still available on sale. That would be my choice. Custom milling from Blackbox would be my 2nd choice keeping in mind that while they will do a great job it won't be cheap. Benefit of the custom milling is that the sight is closure to the bore, but you might lose on resale if you ever flipped.

Fits in the dovetail for the OEM rear sight - no need to modify the slide. Although, you could have got a really good deal on an OR Shadow 2 for the last month...

One issue with EGW, they are being lazy SOBs these days and refuse to ship internationally so you need to find an importer or a company that handles their stuff.

This would be the other option:

I've done this with a Shadow 1 but now that there is a Shadow 2 OR available, probably be just simpler (as well as the optic will sit lower, altogether a nicer setup) to keep or sell your current Shadow 2 and buy one that is Optic Ready.

Thanks to everyone who replied ... am still debating what to do, checking on the price of blackbox, as well.
Selling the CZ Shadow2 Non-Optics-Ready is probably not easy to do at this point ... so, will purse evolution mount or blackbox.

I might try the EGW way first as my attempt to to Blackbox was unsuccessful ... see quoted message below from them:

"I have to sadly rescind my RMR/Shadow 2 schpeel. We did an RMR on a Shadow 2 once and it was 'iffy' so we're not offering that unfortunately as we don't believe its a professionally sound solution. I have to apologize for the miscommunication as I was under the impression it was a firm solution. I spoke with the machinist and the issue, much like the Shadow 1, is how narrow the slide is. The tapped mount holes we did for the RMR only had a hair of steel left on the outside of the slide which is not ideal so we're not comfortable offering it.

So coming back around, right now I can mount a handful of Vortex optics, and the Leupold DPP on a Shadow 2 but we can't pattern them for an RMR/507/SRO unfortunately."

It was actually great that they told me this ... the cost would have been Cdn $320+taxes (including return freight to customer).

I just returned 2 optics mounts for the CZ Shadow to Reliable in B.C. as they could not easily be mounted on my TSO, they may still have them in stock. They were made by CZ Custom in the USA, employed the dovetail in the slide and were multi fit for optic. Looked very well made, just wish I could have made them fit.
Ended up going with a frame mount to put my RMR on. That was dead simple and so far seems very robust.

You have to take it off every time you clean the gun though right? I've been looking at the slide mount and it doesn't look like there's enough room to move the top slide forward when dismantling it for cleaning maintenance. The rear sights get in the way don't they?

Will find out next week :) Will advise. Thanks.
