the front sight on these is a blade sight. is the height designed to index with any receiver sight in particular?

sorry - im hopping on the Dlask boat a few years late and missed this if it was discussed before.

thanks

It looks pretty low so I'd guess it's meant to work with no rear sight, and just sighting down the top of the receiver.

I bought a 12.5" a while back. I wasn't sure about the blade at first but I found it works decently.

It's a lot sturdier than an ordinary bead and with the extra height and more defined profile I find it makes slug shooting easier than a bead. I would still prefer a bead for shooting buckshot though but it's not so big a deal.

The thing I don't like about these barrels is that's they're thick and heavy, I had to sand down the top of my forend to clear the obese profile and it handles like a pig, it's at least as front heavy as a 28" barrel but without the smooth swinging qualities.

The blade is low, and as mentioned intended to be used alone, they are great for accuracy, its amazing how well you can place a slug just using it.

Wow, you dont like the thickness, frankly I love it, the barrels are the thickest profile for any 12ga I know of, except some of the old Bomar barrels.

Just seems excessive, especially if you use it for woods carry like I do. A "police" profile would have been sufficient.

Anyways, I've heard these barrels have a longer than usual forcing cone, can anyone verify?

yeah i cant complain about the barrel thickness. excellent for hard-use, and youll never have to worry about a dented or bent barrel. theres also plenty of beef to tap for chokes.

'obese profile' - i spit coffee out my nose :D

The barrle is way to thick, but thats not allway a bad think, but it sure it a pain in the ass if you have to mod eveything that you put near the barrel.
Maybe its the cost of milling all that extra steel off the barrle.
