Question regarding Norinco 1911 NP29

The threads on the bushings that screw into the frame are metric.

The threads on the bushings where the grip screws go into to mount the grips are standard.

Crazy, eh? ..... Not sure why Norinco never corrected that?

NAA.

I have a commander 4" barrel with Nighthawk internals. There was some minor fitment and filing that needed to be done, nearly plug and play. My intention was to bob it, but I never got around to that far. The older Norc 1911's are great slides and frames to start a build with. You may however want to rethink copper grip scales though. Loaded, that thing would weigh a tonne?

EDIT: sorry, I just saw NAA and others wrote the same above

Grip screw bushings: Not a big deal as long as you are okay with standard thickness grips (thin grips use a different bushing).

...I don't really care too much for the factory slide release and slide safety (too big/clunky for my liking)....
...

Slide stop and thumb safety are both excellent candidates for reducing and shaping yourself. I did mine by hand with files and emery cloth, just copying some other profiles that I liked the look of.

I would wager that they bought up a crap load of standard screws from somewhere else.
