Encased firearm.
The Ontario Hunting regulation states that one must unload and encase firearms in ones possession during the period from a half hour after sunset to a half hour before sunrise.

My question is if a gun sock can be considered a firearm case?

Is there any way I could ask a CO this question and get a written answer (ie MNR website)

Thanks for your help.

You can also write OFAH or Angler and Hunter TV. I was watching an episode of Angler and hunter television (sorry, but any hunting/fishing show is better then "mass for shut-ins"); they specifically had a two minute spiel about encasing guns during dusk/dawn. I remember that he said that he carried a gun sock, in case he was in the field after hunting hours and it was totally legal and he was law complient. On a side note, this was also the episode, where they were talking about planting "deer feed" in fields.

last 3 times i have e-mailed the MNR on thier website the answer was in my inbox the next day when i got up
very fast and polite too
and yes a gunsock does count as encased aslong as it is tied closed
i have a NWTF gunsock but its a bit*h getting it on when a have a scoped rifle with me takes a good 5 min from start to finish lol
