Question Regarding Pistol Ownership in BC

Sounds good to me.
I'm just collecting a couple WW2 pieces...not much. Cheers.

Hee....Just collect is not good enough, you need to buy some more guns and shoot a heck out of them to piss off Liberals:D That said to join a club is the way to go.

Actually, I don't believe that you need to be a club member to get a long term ATT. This came up during a class at the Poco club last week, and the people attending agreed that you no longer need to be a club member to get the ATT.
Example would be that you can can shoot at many different ranges without being a member.

Indeed, you can get a day pass at most of the gun club for very little money.

Great!
Because actually, if I do go to a range, which wouldn't be a common occurance, I would go as someone's guest, to skip out on the club fees.

Because I'm not paying $175 a year! I'm dutch! :D

I'll chime in for m0nkyman here...$75 a year at Victoria Fish and Game (Malahat) $150 a year at North Saanich (with more bells and whistles) and lastly - if it ever reopens - $30 a year at Juan de Fuca (East Sooke). Does anybody here really find these rates expensive? Try golf on for size :)

No day passes! Waste of money! I'd rather spend it on ammo or more milsurp stuff!

A day pass will get you insured. #### can happen. If you just go with someone else and you are not covered by your friend's membership.

Victoria Fish and Game is an hour drive.
I cannot afford any of this! My car is a gas guzzler, and I'm a student.

But if Juan de Fuca ever reopened, I guess I'd probably hit that up. What's the story on that?

Everytime I buy a pistol they(CFC) ask why you want it and what range do you belong to. I guess that doesn't mean you have to be a member, but saying you don't belong to one might be the wrong answer.....ie more B.S.

Juan de Fuca

Beecher Bay First Nations claimed ownership of the land at the entranceway to Juan De Fuca Gun Club/Stormin' Norman's Paintball. Supposedly a pressure tactic to force the Yates family (owners of the property for many years) to sell. I think the paintball is still operating, albeit at a price (paid to the Band) but I've heard nothing on the gun range for months.

Sounds like I'm not going to a range anytime soon then! :p

Regardless of whether or not you're going to get an ATT, support your local club and sign up. The memberships give the club votes at BCFW meetings so you're also getting a voice in what opportunities there are for you to hunt and shoot.

What are going to do and where are you going to go to shoot if your local club closes? Daily fees help the clubs out a little and do usually include insurnace for yourself while your there, but they don't help out as much as yearly memberships. In fact we are considering a user fee even for club members. It has been tabled and will likely go ahead with strong support from our members. We have a truly great club here in Quesnel but our membership is not strong enough to support it. If we didn't hold high power shoots, trap shoots, black powder shoots, and put on C.O.R.E. courses we would be in trouble.

Also consider that there may be benefits down the road to being able to proove your not just a gun collector, that you also shoot. So should you sign up, don't forget to sign in while you are there.

The cost of a yearly membership at a local club likely pails in comparison to the value of your gun collection, ammo, re-loading equipment (if you have any), gun carry cases, gun vaults, etc. A club membership is probably the cheapest aspect of owning guns yet it is often discarded as not being a neccesity and/or too expensive. I feel this is wrong. We need strong memberships at our local clubs and lots more people using them.

We are a minority that has been dealt unfair and outrageous laws to abide by. We have fees for everything it seems and yes, sometimes it's overwhelming but, it's the determination we show when we continue to shoot, to hunt, and to collect firearms, even under these heavy restrictions, that shows our resolve for what we hold dear. The more we align oursleves with gun clubs and associations, the stronger our voices become. Buck up, the fight to be able to collect, shoot firearms, and to hunt goes on on many levels. This is one important step that you can take to help out, so please do.

You are Dutch?

Good for you. I like the Dutch or anyone else who is not a cheapskate. Your $0.48/day will support a gunclub without which you won't have a place to shoot. Ergo, there would be no need for you to own firearms. On the other hand you could move to the Cariboo, where the memberships fees are much more reasonable, but then the facilities are very basic. Can't win, can you? Good shooting.http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/images/smilies/runaway.gif
