I’m a full time contemporary knife maker, and part time contemporary gunmaker, and ship knives to the US weekly... however recently I’ve had numerous Customers requesting my longrifles. How hard is it to ship flintlock rifles south over the border? And how should I ship? This question is for those who’ve actually done it.

You can get a flintlock OUT of Canada no problem, same as anything else - in most states, flintlocks & caplocks are not considered firearms - so again, no problem. however, in ~some~ states they are considered forearms and need to be sent to an FFL holder.
It's best to check with the buyer to find out if there are any restrictions on shipping on their end.
US Border services are pretty much useless for information, the ATF is a little better ...
And of course, it still has to go Canada post -> USPS as couriers will still not touch them.

Yes it is Sean lol. I’m just asking if anyone else has done it and recently. I just had more inquiries come in today regarding making and sending longrifles down south. I’d hate to mail one and it get hung up due to some technicality and not get delivered. So it’s a what’s your personal experience question I guess.

not to long ago i sent a 1860 colt across the line. i made a dozen calls to ATF and border and everyone i could think of. they all had the same answer, sorta. is it antique? yes. no paperwork needed. i wasnt really interested in haveing it siezed. in the end i simply mailed it with a print off of what it was and when it was made. went straight through

Yea, I just had a caplock (just the lock) coming this way from Track get hung up in customs because FedEx is a bag of dicks.... they saw it on the packing slip and just sent it to the bonded warehouse... got hung up in customs for several weeks until the guy who I am building for sent them the invoice. ...?? weird.
So anyway - I got to make a bunch of phone calls to the US because of that and asked both Track and MLBS about shipping down south (because I have a feeling that's where my builds are going) Basically what they said I posted above - most states = no problem, some need to be sent to an FFL ... Track said they thought New York was one of them. In the end, best to put it on the buyer to advise how to ship.
BTW - I think I did post a caplock in that FB group - looks like I am booted out
