Question regarding slings and swivels

Hi

I'm new here and have a question about slings and sling attachments. I picked up a Mossberg 500 which has built in "swivel studs" and then picked up a Quake contour sling which came with "Trilock swivel QD connectors".

After reading some threads about the magazine tube swivel stud unthreading, I decided to get a magpul forward sling mount. It says it uses QD swivels or paraclip attachments.

It turns out QD isn't universal. I can't connect my Trilock QD to this magpul sling attachment as it appears to only accept paraclip or similar. Now I feel dumb. I spent hours looking for an adapter or some other solution.

Am I stuck with getting a new sling with a paraclip on one end, or is there an adapter out there which is like a stud mount on one end and a male paraclip on the other?

Check out GG&G , they make some nice sling points for the mossberg , Wolverine carry a lot of their stuff .

Scrach that , I had to look up the trI lock sling swivels , yeah , you're either going to have to get a new sling set up or use the factory sling points , which are good , I've never had issue with them or heard of any problems with them .

Can the connectors come off the sling or are they sewn in?

Either way I'd suggest getting a sling with nothing sewn in so you can change it around on a whim and then getting whatever attachment system you want to use.

I googled your sling and also what you call "Trilock swivel QD connectors", it look like you have reg quick detach sling swivels and not QD mounts. The magpul forward mount uses a QD mount or a paraclip, it’s not designed to use a reg sling swivel which attaches to a swivel stud. QD mounts and paraclips are more of a tactical sling mount and less of a hunting sling mount, you need a sling that doesn’t have swivels sewed on. Then you can swap in whatever style of attachment you need, I have a mix of QD, paraclip and reg sling swivels on various guns. They all work well.

Thanks everyone. Yes the quake sling has sewn-in regular sling swivels so it looks like I need a different sling if I want to use that magpul mount.

Buy a Vickers sling, Blue force gear makes them. Best sling going, they make a padded or non padded versions and they aren’t sewn shut at the ends.

This. And as GH6 mentioned, look into GG&G mounts. They make everything from a simple loop to QD sockets to clip mounts for paraclips, mash hooks etc. Don't forget a rear mount too.
