Probably easier to not miss a bolt throw in a rundown exercise when your heart is racing and your adrenaline is running when you have the larger bolt knob.
The larger knob size is more comfortable to work and the longer length gives more leverage to open the bolt after it is fired. You really appreciate the differance if you are shooting from the prone position.
Gloves, as gunasauras. I tried one once on a cold hunt, and have used them ever since. So long as you can figure out how to work your trigger with thick gloves on, a bigger bolt knob is your friend.
As far as doing it for LCF, does not make sense to me especially being that the cool kids do not on either the m24, or the m40.
Snipers are not that smart, have arthritis and bad eye site? Or it's so manufactures can sell more guns and gunsmiths like me can charge people $200.00 to put on funny looking bolt handles. I DON"T KNOW!!!!!!!! LMAO. Rod
I just bought 2 Rem 700 in the last month . One has a tactical knob the other doesn't . Suffice it to say when the one that doesn't goes to get bedded it is getting and big knob too. Both are hunting guns and I can't imagine the weight will slow me down. If it does I will probably turn the gun around
Of course weight is not an issue. When packing the rifle, I do find I have to watch how it is slung when climbing otherwise the bolt will stick into my chest/back.
