im going to be moving back to ottawa in january 2012
im looking for a GOOD range for run and gun. im currently posted in newbrunswick and at our range we can set up stages and an open house type concept. i dont shoot trap and hardley bench ive been to one range in kanata/stittsville and was not impressed. who wants to bench shoot a CZ858?
not me.
SO if anyone has a good range in the area please let me know.

I shoot at Smiths Falls, http://www.smithsfallsfishandgameclub.ca/. There's a good bunch of pistol shooters there, who get together regularly for IDPA, IPSC. It is too restrictive for 3 gun stuff though. There's no rifles allowed on the pistol ranges, not even the IPSC range????, and although you can shoot pistols and shotguns on the rifle range, when shooting a rifle, there's a static firing line. Grenville Fish and Game Club, http://www.grenvillefishandgame.com/, is a good place for 3 gun like runnin' and gunnin'. I've not been to EOHC. We need more 3 gun shooters in Eastern Ontario!
 
Welcome back to Ottawa! IMHO, the EOHC range is the best option for shooting in the Ottawa area. I am a member & shoot there often. Usually I have the place to myself on weekdays. Rifle range is 200m, 4 pistol ranges, 25 & 50m. Yearly membership dues are only $200 a year which is reasonable IMO. Check out their website for membership details http://www.eohc.ca/join.asp

Welcome back to Ottawa area as said above there are a few choices, depending on where you decide to live, Grenville is probably the fastest growing club in the area with the most selection of disciplins, definately the cheapest to join. Every club has their pro's and con's !
I don't think Smiths Falls is excepting new members at this time maybe some one from their can chime in.

I've dropped my Grenville membership, and picked up EOHC. Grenville is becoming less gun-friendly - a new proposed Club bylaw intends to:
- limit to one guest per shooter
- that guest can only visit Grenville once (after that, they wouldn't be welcome without a membership)
- no guests permitted in the new indoor range.

They're more of a Fishing and archery "Club" than a "Range", so if you're more interested in shooting than in "shooting-the-sh*t", go with EOHC, for sure.

IMHO, of course.
 
I really don;t see that as less gun friendly.

Quite frankly...I get a little miffed when I'm standing in line at a club I pay money to...while non members plink away.

I've never been to Grenville and seen more than one range in use.

All of us started as guests somewhere once. Compared to EOHC's four-guests unlimited visits policy, I don't think Grenville's doing anything to encourage new shooters.

At Grenville Membership fee's you can buy almost 3 memberships for 1 at eohc as for the new indoor range policy its not cheap to build and indoor range and those who pay for it should have some privledges.If Indoor ranges were cheap every one would be building one, At Grenville they continue to support all outdoor programs , Anyone who has been there can see that the membership wants all shooting disciplines to excel.
