I am looking to replace the enfield that my grandfather had when I was a kid. I am not to sure what version it was. It did have full wood and was not sported.

My question is what would be the best Lee Enfield for me to look at buying? I want a rifle I can shoot and not a museum piece. What do you guys recommend I should look for and about what price should I be willing to pay?

I did the same thing you are looking to do. My grandfathers was a no1 mk3. I bought an all matching, full wood Indian refurb for 400. i would say some where around there? however im no expert. It shoots great and its not a museum piece.

My grandfather was not in the war but several of his brothers served. The thing that bugs me is that I can remember the rifle but I don't remember what it was, it was in good usable condition, I saw it some time in the 80's, all of his rifles were dispersed amungst the family but none of my uncles know were that rifle went, my grandad may have given it away or sold it. One of the reasons why I am looking for one.
