Hi there
I have a question to everybody, who bought in the past once fired rifle cases. How often you get cases in "not really good" condition?
I'm newbie and recently I bought some quantity of once fired cases, that by my opinion cant be used in reloading. How do you think, am I wrong?

Is it OK, that some cases looks like that?

I have bought a lot of used brass over the years and you get good with the bad. I would run them through a full length resizer ( if you can ) but IMHO their scrap. If you did get them resized and reloaded , firing them would reform the cases but where the damage is could be a weak spot so I just turf mine.
2 cents that's worth nothing.

It's a bit of a buyer beware situation when getting anything that's once fired. You have no idea of the chamber or headspace that the case was fired in. In this example I agree with yomamma's comment, likely fired through a norinco m14, so dinged up and possible headspace issues. If I were to buy any 308 once fired, I'd look to buy federal gold medal match and ask for a picture of the brass before buying. Then at least you see what you are getting and with GMM probably out of a good chamber.
Sorry for the bad news here, depending on what you hope to do with them, load them carefully or just chalk it up to learning and get some new stuff.

Its 13 from 100 (I found 2 more after I did this photo). I decided do not use it. Next time I will by 10% more brasses, that I need, just to be prepared to put it in garbage :)

Thanks a lot to everybody for the answers.

My brass fired from SVT-40 gets major dents similar to those cases. I've got some with 6 dents and they're still going strong. Absolutely nothing wrong with using that brass.

don't sweat it te4nik
the brass is good, it won't fail you
most brass failures come as neck cracks, head splits or primer hole enlargements.

...that's the stuff i get rid of...could be a pin hole or hairline crack some place...just me...

funny, guess i been lucky, but i've bought a lot of brass on here over the years and i have never had anything come to me that looked like that...

Lol those are fine man. I've reloaded brass that I picked up in a gravel pit after it was run over with a truck. When you load for a semi you get dented cases, many are worse than that. All my batches of brass for semi's have a never ending cycle of dents that move around with each firing. You can see the big dents even after sizing but like Maynard says, 50,000 PSI smooths that sh!t right out. If I can reload brass that looks like that after every firing, 5+ times and its still good then you've got nothing to worry about.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that brass for reloading .
My worry with once fired brass is that it is truly once fired.
This is why I only buy once fired brass that has crimped in primers.

I'd shoot them, but if I were buying brass, I think for a few extra bucks I'd buy new and take care of my brass from the start. For my own piece of mind. My feelings are.....it can only help using good quality brass for best accuracy results.
