I have an older wire eject model and am waiting on the EZ ject conversion kit to get delivered with a new shell plate.

Can I still use my older shell plates from the wire eject model, or do they have to me machined to work with the new system?

Nope, EZ plates have a machined grove for the ejector pin to sit in.

Have seen an ad from HDY saying they will convert for 10 bucks but may be for Americans only. Should be easy for someone with a milling machine. I bubba mine with a grinder, works, can't see it being it is on the bottom :)

Did you talk to HDY to get the EZ ject conversion kit? Talk to HDY to see the cost for them to convert plates.

How did you go about grinding it?

Just got the old version plates back from a local machine shop, untouched.
They claim metal is too hard for them to machine economically.
Back to square one.

I sent mine to Hornady for machining and got back replacement shell plates. No problems at all. Cost $10 USD per shell plate and return postage was $15 USD for 5 shell plates.
