question: what to do with fail to fire ammo?

Don't be in a hurry to unload your rifle and pull the unfired ammo out. It's highly unlikely but not impossible that it could go off several seconds later. After you squeeze the trigger and nothing happens, keep rifle pointed in a safe direction for a count of 60 or so.

Any old powder I have that I want to dispose of gets put in a pile in the driveway and set alight. Bullets are recycled, and brass is too unless it's garbage, then it actually goes in the garbage.

The Gevarm usually takes care of any .22 misfires, and if they don't go off in the Gevarm they really are duds. Same procedure as above; work the bullet loose with pliers, burn the powder, pitch the rest.

thanks for all the feedback folks... just to be clear

1) i don't smoke when working with ammunition. i like to reduce my risks
2) for each round that FTF i waited, then ejected and then put back to get re-fired. did this 3 times for each round.

I like the oil making the primers inert idea...

i'll just pull the lead, make it inert and dispose.
